Okno

Start

Live on your own site in three steps.

Okno runs on any Vite framework, plus Next.js. Your content saves into your own GitHub repo, as a commit. You and your clients sign in with GitHub. No new passwords.

  1. Install

    01
    $ npx okno

It adds the plugin to your framework config and scaffolds your content folder. Your framework, repo and hosting stay exactly as they are.

  2. Open the window

    02

Run your site and press E. Okno signs you in with GitHub and sets up your first schema right there.

  3. Edit, then publish

    03

Change anything and hit publish. It commits to your repo and deploys the way it always has.

Questions

  • Do I need a GitHub repo first?

Yes, before you open the editor. The install command runs in any project, but when you press E, Okno looks for your repo and signs you in with GitHub, local work included. Connect the repo first and the rest is automatic.

  • What does this cost me to set up?

Nothing. Everything on this page is free, with every feature, on your own machine. You only pay for days you edit the live site, and never more than €200 a year.

  • How do I hand it to a client?

Invite them. They sign in with GitHub and edit the live site in the same window you built it in. No seats, no second tool to teach them.

  • My framework isn't Vite or Next.

Astro, SvelteKit, Nuxt, Vue, React and anything else on Vite all work, and Next.js has its own adapter. Outside those two, Okno won't run yet. The local engine is a Vite plugin, so it's a matter of time, not of principle.

  • Where do I learn the rest?

Inside the editor. The docs live in the window itself, so a step that says press a button can hand you the actual button.
